Gardening and Car Boot Sales

With the weekend bringing the good weather I managed to haul out the lawn mower and gave the garden a quick once over. It’s amazing how quickly the grass is growing now and as soon as the grass had been mowed it showed up how badly the beds needed a good weeding, something I had been meaning to do but kept putting it back as it’s a job that I hate.

However, now is the time it must be done and so I have partitioned the garden in to an imaginary 4 spaces and I shall do one space per evening this week, so that it is completed by Friday and the rest of the Easter weekend can be devoted to some other gardening job or hopefully some time out on the bike.

Saturday afternoon I spent with my Brother-in-law down at the Cheltenham Racecourse, both our eyes glued to the many motorbikes at the Bike-Safe festival which is now a regular event.

Due to the good weather the event was busy and the traders all seemed happy as business was brisk. The bikes on show were very impressive but there was nothing there that really caught my imagination. The Royal Enfield’s which I love, were out in style and certainly put a smile on my face, but all in all, the sports bikes seemed to me to be all the same.

If I’m going to have a motorbike especially at today’s prices I want it to be a little different from the crowd, that’s half the reason why I bought the Harley, at least you can customise it to how you want it.
I came away with a new helmet which was rather annoying as I promised myself I wouldn’t buy anything, but this was such a good price and I definitely did need a new one, so that was that!

Sunday was spent sorting out the books and furniture and other items we had taken out of the office prior to decorating, the trouble was although the office is now bigger we don’t seem to have the room for putting everything back. So we have now decided that the time has come for one of those massive clearouts.

Much of the junk has been placed upstairs in the attic but that is now so full that you get the impression that the floor up there is beginning to bend under the weight! We are now planning a car boot sale in which we will pile as much as is humanly possible in the estate car and flog away until all is gone.

Car boot sales can be great fun if have the time to just potter around looking at all the items for sale. It is amazing what people will sell from the back of their car, mind you e-bay is pretty much the same.

A mate of mine had a fleece he bought back in the eighties, blue if I remember correctly and he wore it constantly. Years later, (last year to be precise), he dug it up and thought he would stick it on e-bay. Bearing in mind that this fleece was now very old, mangy and beading, my mate duly took the photograph and stuck it on e-bay. Blow me that ruddy thing went for £40 and once more he got good feedback!
